Situated on the Müritz-Elde waterway and on the Mecklenburg Lakes Cycle Route, this beautiful old Mecklenburg town with its brick buildings and half-timbered architecture is worth a visit at any time of year. It is one of the oldest towns in Mecklenburg and numerous buildings worth seeing have been preserved from its eventful history. Particularly striking are the two large churches and the town hall, major works of brick Gothic architecture, as well as the historic half-timbered houses in the cosy town centre.
