Digitalisation offers the opportunity to make public transport services more attractive and more tailored to people's needs. For the introduction of the Deutschlandticket as a digital ticket, new framework conditions and increased pressure to act have arisen to advance digitalisation in public transport as quickly as possible. With the "(((eTicket" Germany standard, all the necessary prerequisites exist to issue digital tickets in standardised formats and to be able to control them interoperably across companies.

The grants from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania support the transport companies in setting up a comprehensive technical infrastructure in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania that makes it possible to issue and check electronic, climate-neutral travel authorisations.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Tourism and Labour shall, in agreement with the Ministry of Finance and after hearing the State Audit Office, issue a funding guideline for the granting of subsidies for investments in the development of digital distribution and control structures in local public transport in the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The funding is aimed at transport companies in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and was approved by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Tourism and Labour. This funding comes into force retroactively as of 01.01.2023.
