Meyer: Nationwide use of public transport more flexible, easier and cheaper for 29 euros

Schwerin, 27 March 2023 The Deutschland-Ticket is coming! On the initiative of the federal government and the federal states, the Deutschland-Ticket (Germany Ticket) will be introduced on 1 May 2023 as a season ticket that can be used on all local public transport throughout Germany. This ticket will be available to everyone at a price of 49 euros. From 1 May 2023, persons completing qualified vocational training ("Azubis"), preparatory service for a civil service career in career group I or voluntary service in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will be able to use a Deutschland-Ticket for local public transport (ÖPNV) for 29 euros per month. The difference to 49 euros - 20 euros - will be paid by the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. At the same time, the current AzubiTicket MV will be discontinued.

Range of services is significantly increased

"With the ticket subsidised by the state, those entitled can not only travel to and from vocational school or to and from the training company. It can also be used for all other journeys on public transport throughout Germany. The ticket is an opportunity for young people in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to use public transport more flexibly, easily and cheaply throughout Germany. The range of services will be significantly increased for all users," said Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Minister of Economics and Transport Reinhard Meyer.

"The federal states and the federal government have agreed on a digital and nationwide ticket for local public transport (ÖPNV). The state is further relieving the burden on our trainees and thus ensuring the possibility of cheap and climate-friendly journeys to training and during leisure time," explains Daniel Bischof, Managing Director of VMV-Verkehrsgesellschaft.

New customers can apply for tickets as of 03 April

The AzubiTicket MV is available for Existing customers will be automatically switched to the D-Ticket subscription from 1 May 2023. Only 29 euros per month will be charged to those entitled to use the ticket. The contractual partner DB Vertrieb will inform existing customers accordingly and accompany the changeover process.

New customers can purchase the subsidised Deutschlandticket from 03 April 2023 via the website        www.azubiticket-mv.de

or directly via the online order form at DB Vertrieb (www.bahn.de/angebot/pendler/azubi-tickets/azubi-ticket-meckpomm) as a digital mobile phone ticket.
