From 1 May 2023, the D-Ticket will be introduced

Climate-friendly, simple and flexible travel

The Deutschland-Ticket offers nationwide mobility on all local public transport buses and trains, a convenient local transport season ticket for the whole of Germany!

From 01 May 2023, you can be mobile throughout Germany for only €49 per month. The Deutschland-Ticket, or D-Ticket for short, is not only an important contribution to climate protection, it also provides noticeable financial relief for travellers, commuters and public transport users in difficult times. With the new D-Ticket, you can travel all over Germany and even as far as Swinemünde on the RB 23 on the island of Usedom.

The Deutschland-Ticket will be valid on all public transport in Germany. It will also be recognised on 2nd class long-distance trains between Rostock Hbf. and Stralsund Hbf. It is only available by subscription, which can be cancelled monthly and is not transferable to other persons. The Deutschlandticket does not include the free carriage of additional persons, dogs or bicycles. The possibility of carriage can be purchased for a corresponding surcharge (local tariff regulations). Children under 6 years of age can of course still travel free of charge. The ticket is not valid with providers such as FlixTrain and on long-distance buses.

For the use of the call bus systems in the districts of Ludwigslust-Parchim, Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, Vorpommern-Greifswald, Rostock and Nordwestmecklenburg.

"The federal states and the federal government have agreed on a digital and nationwide ticket for local public transport. I see great potential with this easy-to-use and inexpensive offer to convince even more passengers to use public transport in our country. In many cases, local transport will also become much cheaper for our loyal customers," explains Daniel Bischof, Managing Director of VMV-Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

"For our passengers, the low-cost public transport flat rate, which is valid throughout Germany, is a huge gain. The urgently needed change in transport can be given a strong boost if the travel offers in the city and the country are improved at the same time. For this, the transport companies need sufficient and permanent funding for the ticket as well as for the absolutely necessary expansion of services," says Jan Bleis, Chairman of VDV-Nord (Association of Transport Companies).

What to do?

The following applies to commuters: Existing subscriptions do not have to be cancelled! The respective contractual partners, the local transport companies and associations will inform you in good time and automatically about a changeover of the season tickets to the Deutschland-Ticket.

New purchases from 03 April 2023 onwards will be possible digitally via apps and the sales channels of the transport companies. The Deutschland-Ticket can also be purchased locally in customer centres as a chip card.
