Closing event for the "MIRROR" funding project

Closing event for the "MIRROR" funding project

Rostock, 3 December 2024 After three years, the public transport model project in the district of Rostock and the Hanseatic city of Rostock is coming to an end. The Warnow Transport Association (VVW) invited citizens, decision-makers from politics and the industry to the model region for a closing event in the foyer of Rostock Town Hall. Around 40 smaller and larger measures to make local transport more attractive were implemented in the subsidised project. A total of €29.3 million in federal funding from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) and €2.9 million in funding from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern via VMV-Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern mbH were available for the project, with a total project volume of €42.6 million.

In two panel discussions, the measures and the effects of the pilot project on the public transport landscape in the Rostock region were discussed from the perspective of politicians and the partners involved. It quickly became clear that all participants were delighted with the large number of improvements to local public transport in the region.

The utilisation phase of the pilot project will begin for passengers on 1 January 2025. The use and impact of the individual measures will be further analysed by means of an evaluation.
