Meyer: Connections on the route Inselstadt Malchow - Alt Schwerin now daily
For climate-friendly travel, additional trains to the attractive tourist region of the Mecklenburg Lake District have been ordered by the state through the VMV-Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from 17 July until the end of the holidays. "Just in time for the summer holidays in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, we are extending the trips of the Southern Railway seasonal service. We have ordered additional journeys from Monday to Friday between the island town of Malchow and Alt Schwerin from ODEG. This means that the tourist destinations between the island town of Malchow, Malchow Krebssee and Alt Schwerin with the agricultural history open-air museum "Agroneum" can be reached even better. This is an additional attractive offer, especially for families from our country, to explore the local region even better. As part of the mobility offensive, we are increasing the number of services and the train now runs daily on the route between the island town of Malchow and Alt Schwerin. This measure can also help to meet the expected increase in demand due to the Deutschlandticket," said Reinhard Meyer, Minister of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Tourism and Labour. Minister of Economic Affairs Meyer added: "The stop 'Malchow Krebssee', which has just been put into operation, is thus also served throughout the week and offers travellers a relaxed journey to and from the Affenwald and the summer toboggan run."
"We are pleased that we can offer the RB15 service on this section all week long to the locals and guests of the region at short notice together with ODEG. In addition to the existing weekend service, five additional return trips will be offered every two hours from Monday to Thursday and four return trips on Friday until 25.08.2023. We look forward to and welcome old and new passengers to use the seasonal services again this year. Schoolchildren can also discover the region by train during the holidays with the school holiday ticket for only 32 euros," says Daniel Bischof, Managing Director of VMV-Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
"The expansion of the Southern Railway seasonal service with additional trains between the island town of Malchow and Alt Schwerin is an important step towards promoting sustainable mobility and strengthening rural areas. We welcome the additional services that we will offer on our RB15 from 17 July and thus support the mobility offensive of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The quick reaction of the politicians to the wishes of the population was accompanied by the perfect cooperation of the transport company Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Regio Infra Nord-Ost and us, the ODEG. More trains create more connections for the population and strengthen the economy as well as tourism. We are pleased to be a part of this and about the trust repeatedly placed in us," says Stefan Neubert, Managing Director of ODEG.
A bigger network for your ticket
The Deutschland-Ticket can be used on all seasonal services; only when ordering a call bus is there an additional service charge. "If passengers are travelling without a Deutschland-Ticket and are planning a single journey, they can, as last year, use the bus with an ODEG ticket and vice versa. The two transport companies ODEG and VLP continue to recognise each other's tickets. This means that it is sufficient to buy only one ticket on the route between Parchim, Plau am See and the island town of Malchow," says Daniel Bischof, Managing Director of VMV-Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
