Between August 2025 and April 2026, Deutsche Bahn (DB) is carrying out what is known as a general refurbishment. During this time, the line between Hamburg and Berlin will be closed to train traffic. Neighbouring lines - in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from Hagenow Land to Hagenow Stadt and Schwerin Süd as well as the lines from Ludwigslust to Parchim and Schwerin Süd - are also affected. Numerous works on tracks, points and overhead lines are to be carried out by DB within nine months. In addition, the renewal of control and safety technology and the modernisation of stations on the line have been announced.
